A Best-Friend Snapshot

You know when your friend asks you how you are, and you burst out in tears?  I had one of those days yesterday, and it was absolutely awful.  Pretty much as soon as I walked in, I was a blubbering mess.  The husbands both ran out to help mine to move a bed upstairs, while the wives sat inside hugging and understanding.  We eventually moved outside for a smoke and a talk, though I still can’t quite remember what we spoke about.

You know when you’ve got great girlfriends when they then invite you and your husband to stick around!  He watched football with the other guys, and we watched Under the Tuscan Sun in the other room.  The girls’ presence was so calming, giving me courage for the moment when I had to actually head back home and somehow love my husband; and allow him to love me.  That doesn’t mean they solved how I was feeling, mind you, but at least they gave me the courage and the hope to ask God to help me out.  And with Him, anything’s possible…
